What has Happened: On Saturday, President Yoon of South Korea was impeached by the National Assembly, and now the Constitutional Court has up to 180 days to determine whether to reinstate him or officially remove him from office. Yoon’s presidential powers and duties were suspended and Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, the country’s number two official, became the acting president. If Yoon is in fact officially removed by the court, a national election to choose his successor must be held within 60 days.
