Academy SITREP – U.S. Warships Conduct Freedom of Navigation Operation in Strait of Hormuz

What has Happened: Last month, Academy’s GIG predicted that the U.S. Navy would conduct a Strait of Hormuz transit in the next few weeks (see link to CalPERS meeting with General Bellon and SITREP). Earlier today, two U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyers passed through the Strait of Hormuz marking the first transit of American warships through the waterway since the conflict began. The ships operated in the Gulf then left as planned, with no issues reported. The Iranian government called the crossing a ceasefire violation and threatened to attack the ships.
